Director Stanley Tucci's Trip to the Oscars Delays First Preview of Lend Me a Tenor

Blame the Oscars! Lend Me a Tenor director Stanley Tucci’s travel plans to and from the Academy Awards ceremony (he is nominated for his performance in The Lovely Bones) is conflicting with the start of the revival’s previews. Thus, the production is delaying its first performance by one day. Lend Me a Tenor will now begin performances on March 12 at the Music Box Theatre. The Ken Ludwig comedy is still scheduled to open on April 4, 2010.

Lend Me a Tenor stars Anthony LaPaglia, Tony Shalhoub, Justin Bartha, Brooke Adams, Mary Catherine Garrison, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Jay Klaitz and Jan Maxwell.

Set in the 1930s, Lend Me a Tenor is a madcap screwball comedy that begins when Tito Merelli (LaPaglia), a fiery-tempered and world famous Italian superstar, arrives in Cleveland to make his debut with the local opera and promptly goes missing. As Saunders (Shalhoub), the show’s presenter, conspires to cover for Tito’s absence by tapping his hapless assistant Max (Bartha) to star in the opera, placate his hot-blooded wife and distract his most passionate fans, chaos on a truly operatic level ensues.
